Pastor Cindy’s Jan. 13th Epistle

Pastor Cindy’s Jan. 13th Epistle

Our Church wide vote was held on Sunday, January 8. We had 80 persons present and eligible to vote. We would have needed 67% or greater to move to a vote for disaffiliation from the United Methodist Church. The vote in the end was 56 votes to not disaffiliate and 17 votes yes to disaffiliate. As a congregation you will now be waiting to see what the General Conference does going forward in 2024.  During this time be in prayer for The United Methodist Church as it works to continue keeping the task of making disciples that will transform the world its main focus for ministry. Also keep your SPRC {Staff Parish Relations Committee} in your prayers as they begin working with our Conference and Associate Superintendents to determine who will be the next pastor of Edwardsville UMC.

2023 Giving Envelopes
There are still several envelopes available on the table outside the sanctuary with individual giving      envelopes for 2023. Please pick those up following worship or stop by the church office to pick them up for this year.  Beginning in 2023 the envelopes are not dated and numbered so it is important that you fill out your envelopes completely.  Your giving number for 2023 will be located on the enclosed note attached to your envelopes. Please put that number next to your name.

Also, please fill in which fund you want your gift to be applied to.  If you give to a fund other than General Fund (Tithes and Offerings), Mortgage Payment Fund, or Missions Fund, you must write the fund/cause on the blank line along with the amount.

As always, thank you for supporting the ministries at Edwardsville United Methodist Church. In His Service, Cheryl Thompson, Financial Secretary and Debbie Youell, Finance Chairperson.

Medical Waste Containers
We have placed Medical waste containers in both the restrooms by the church office and in New Fellowship Hall. If you are disposing of needles or medical waste products, please place your items inside the Medical Waste Containers rather than leaving them in the stalls or in the regular trash. This is for your safety as well as the safety of our housekeepers.

Work on Replacement of Sewer Lift Station
Work has begun on the Sewer Lift Station replacement in the North parking lot. You will notice construction along SR 62 and around the building at times.  We will have a section of the North Parking Lot closed at times when there is work being done in the parking lot. Please be aware when coming to the church and be aware of construction and follow the direction or flow of traffic when necessary. This project will be underway until mid-April barring any weather delays. Thank you for your help.

Wednesday Worship
The next Wednesday Worship Night will be on Wednesday, February 8 in the Epi Center at 6:00 p.m.  Please plan to join your friends/family for food, fellowship and worship.  We will spend time worshiping God in song.

Sunday School Class for Youth
A new class for youth from ages 12-18 will begin on Sunday, January 15 at 10:15 a.m. in the Conference Room. The class will be led by Joann Frederick.  We will begin by studying a verse of scripture, getting acquainted and determining what everyone would like to learn.  Come and bring a friend and join us for this time of learning and fellowship.
