Pastor Cindy’s November 5th Epistle

Pastor Cindy’s November 5th Epistle

There are two Red Cross Blood Drives coming up in the next three weeks.  Monday, November 8 from 3-8 p.m. at Edwardsville UMC and Monday, November 22 at St. John’s Lutheran Church from 4-8 p.m. Your donation of blood is greatly appreciated by people who need transfusions, critical surgery, and other emergencies that arise.  You can register on-line for each of these drives and help someone in need along the way:

We will be remembering those who have passed away from October 1, 2020—October 1, 2021.  We will be sharing the All Saints PowerPoint in both the 9:00 and 11:00 services. I will bring a special message and we will celebrate Holy Communion together as part of our remembering those we have lost this past year.

Chancel Choir
Choir has begun practicing on Sunday evenings in the sanctuary at 7:00 p.m. They will be singing in worship each Sunday morning in the 9:00 a.m. worship service.   We are practicing social distancing both in choir room and in the sanctuary while singing. Vaccinations will be required. This was the agreement of those in the choir. Honor system for proof will be the order of the day.  If you have missed singing come and join the choir on Sunday evenings at 7:00 p.m. to receive all the information and music you will need.

Habitat for Humanity
The foundation, plumbing and ground electric is in, and roof trusses are on thanks to the Construction Trades Classes at Prosser Vocational School. They will finish putting the roof on and then work can begin with volunteers. We have some dates for doing light construction.  We need 3-5 people who can work on November 18 {Tuesday};
December 2 {Thursday}, and
December 14 {Tuesday}.
Please let Bob Youell know if you can help on either of those dates.  This is a great project to help a family get into a home of their own.

Floyd County continues to be yellow with a 6.04 receptivity rate this week. Indiana as a whole is at 7.4. We have only two counties in red, and one in blue.  We have 42 states showing yellow =1/1.5. Nearly half of our state in the yellow receptivity level. Clark is back in Orange at 8.25 and Harrison is also Orange at 11.5.  We will continue to practice our protective measures as we continue to move in a helpful and hopeful direction.  We were out of masks last weekend, but we will have some available again this weekend.  When we get down to blue status {which I believe will be very soon}, I believe we will be able to begin relaxing our precautions from where we are currently.  I know that we are all growing weary with these practices, but they have allowed us to stay open and do what we have been able to do.  Keep watching for more details for activities to come and be added to our schedule and calendar.  Thanks so much for your cooperation.

Salvation Army and EXIT 0 Christmas Tags – Angel Tree
We will have tags for the Salvation Army on a Tree near the entrance to Door #1. These tags will be available beginning November 14 and gifts and tags will need to be returned by December 5.  Exit 0 Tags will be put up after the Salvation Army Tags are gone and these gift tags/gifts will need to be returned by Christmas.

CHRISTMAS—Hanging of the Greens
We will be decorating on Sunday, November 19 at 2:00 p.m.  We will need some men/women who can climb ladders and help put the trees up prior to Sunday.  Please see Pastor Cindy if you can help with this task.
