Pastor Cindy’s Jan. 6th Epistle

Pastor Cindy’s Jan. 6th Epistle

Sunday, January 8 will be our Church wide vote following the 9:00 a.m. worship service.  This vote will determine if EUMC will proceed to a vote for disaffiliation from the UMC.  There will be no discussion at this vote. If you have further questions regarding this vote, please reach out to Pastor Cindy prior to worship on Sunday. January 8.  You must be present to vote. No absentee or proxy votes will be allowed.  The vote will be by written ballot and will be counted live following the vote so that everyone will know the outcome of the vote.  We will need a 67% or more affirmative vote to move to disaffiliation.

The outcome of this vote will determine whether we move toward disaffiliation and it will determine if we submit our profile for our next pastor to the Conference Superintendent. If the church votes to  disaffiliate, you will also need to begin preparing the paperwork for the disaffiliation process in addition to determining how you will go about securing a pastor after my retirement.  These actions have to all be completed very soon.  I encourage you to be in prayer about this important decision.

2023 Giving Envelopes:
There are several envelopes available on the table outside the sanctuary with individual giving envelopes for 2023. Please pick those up following worship or stop by the church office to pick them up for this year.  Beginning in 2023 the envelopes are not dated and numbered so it is important that you fill out your envelopes completely.  Your giving number for 2023 will be located on the enclosed note attached to your envelopes. Please put that number next to your name.

Also, please fill in which fund you want your gift to be applied to.  If you give to a fund other than General Fund (Tithes and Offerings), Mortgage Payment Fund, or Missions Fund, you must write the fund/cause on the blank line along with the amount.

As always, thank you for supporting the ministries at Edwardsville United Methodist Church. In His Service, Cheryl Thompson, Financial Secretary and Debbie Youell, Finance Chairperson.

Medical Waste Containers
We have placed Medical waste containers in both the restrooms by the church office and in New Fellowship Hall. If you are disposing of needles or medical waste products, please place your items inside the Medical Waste Containers rather than leaving them in the stalls or in the regular trash. This is for your safety as well as the safety of our housekeepers.

Work on Replacement of Sewer Pit
Work has begun on the Sewer Pit replacement in the North parking lot. You will notice construction along 62 and around the building at times.  We will have a section of the North Parking Lot closed at times when there is work being done in the parking lot. Please be aware when coming to the church and be aware of construction and follow the direction or flow of traffic when necessary. This project will be underway until mid-April barring any weather delays. Thank you for your help.

Wednesday Worship
Wednesday Worship will occur on Wednesday, January 11 in the Epi-Center at 6:00 p.m.  Please plan to join your friends/family for food, fellowship and worship.  We will spend time worshiping God in song.

Sunday School Class for Youth
A new class for youth from ages 12-18 will begin on Sunday, January 15 at 10:15 a.m. in the Conference Room. The class will be led by Joann Frederick.  We will begin by studying a verse of scripture, getting acquainted and determining what everyone would like to learn.  Come and bring a friend and join us for this time of learning and fellowship.
