09 Nov Pastor’s Nov 8th Epistle
I ran into this quote the other day and while I had seen similar sayings, it hit me in a new way this week as we have been talking about commitment and vision as a congregation.
I have also seen the saying that: “We play at our worship and worship our play”.
How do these thoughts touch you? Do you agree or disagree? Do you see them as a challenge to “those people”? Or as a challenge to examine yourself?
Joshua challenged the Hebrews when he drew the line in the sand and stepping over saying “15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15.
It is good to remember how God has been faithful to our people and ourselves. It is good to step back on occasion and evaluate our faithfulness to God. As we prepare for Sunday and look at our financial commitment to God for 2020, as we look at what ministries God is calling us to be a part of, are we at play, are we just interested in what God is doing, or are we all in for Jesus?
See ya Sunday,
